Maryland Auto Insurance regulations:
Liability coverage is required in Maryland. Maryland requires that you purchase uninsured and underinsured motorist bodily injury coverages. Maryland auto insurance laws require that all drivers purchase a minimum of $2,500 in personal injury protection (or PIP).
Rates are determined by the driving habits of the drivers within a state. The state's liability minimums are 20/40/15. That is $20,000 per individual for bodily injuries you cause to the other persons, and up to $40,000 for all, and $15,000 for damage you cause to the other party's personal property. Maryland determines auto insurance rates based on driving record, age, area you live in, and the type of vehicle you drive. You may want to consider higher coverages than the state minimums.
